Duffy, Manley to Hold Program on Holiday Budgeting

Both elected officials are certified public accountants. The event will be held Dec. 4 at the Black Road branch of the Joliet Public Library.

Two elected officials/certified public accountants will hold a seminar Dec. 4 on how to budget for the holidays.

State Rep. Natalie Manley (D-Joliet) and Will County Auditor Duffy Blackburn will be joined by CPA Mary Lancaster at the event, set for 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Black Road branch of the Joliet Public Library, 3395 Black Road, Joliet. (Lancaster and Manley do a Friday morning radio show on WJOL-AM with Lynne Lichtenauer.)

“As a certified public accountant, I understand the need for strategic budgeting and how crucial it is to plan for all of your expenses,” Manley said in a news release on the event.

“Budgeting in Springfield needs to be done the same way that we budget for our households – we can’t spend more than what we take in, and we need to prioritize the essentials.”

During an interactive presentation, the three accountants will answer questions on financial issues and how to budget for the holidays. Advice on how to budget for each paycheck and plan for a full year, special expenses and the holidays.
