Electrical Fire Leaves Four People Homeless
The cause of the fire, which gutted the house at 719 Patterson Road, is believed to be a faulty electrical cord, the East Joliet deputy fire chief said.

Four people were left homeless Tuesday night following an electrical fire that gutted a house at 719 Patterson Road, East Joliet Deputy Fire Chief Kirk Kelly said.
The fire began shortly after 5 p.m. and is being attributed to a faulty electrical cord, Kelly said.
The homeowner called 911, but by the time firefighters arrived, the house was fully engulfed, he said. The department called in assistance from Rockdale, Manhattan, New Lenox and other fire units, and needed only about a half hour to get the blaze under control, he said.
There were four adults living in the single-family house, located near Center Point Way and Brandon Road in unincorporated Joliet. All are being assisted by the Red Cross, Kelly said.
