Woman Beaten, Choked By Plainfield Man: Joliet Police
Joliet officers hauled away 23-year-old Gustavo Zamora from a house on Stonybrook Drive Monday morning on felony domestic violence charges.

JOLIET, IL — A 23-year-old Plainfield man is no longer in custody in connection with felony domestic violence charges filed against him by Joliet police. On Monday morning, Joliet officer arrested Gustavo Zamora the third after police say he shoved a young woman into a wall, headbutted her and then put his hands around her neck, choking her, nearly leaving her unconscious.
Zamora was booked into the Will County Jail on charges of domestic battery and aggravated domestic battery. However, on Tuesday night, Zamora was let out of the Will County Jail after posting 10 percent of his $25,000 bail, jail logs show.
At 7 a.m. Monday, Joliet squad cars rolled up to the domestic violence call in the 2500 block of Stonybrook Drive, which is near Caton Farm and Drauden Roads. At the house, police learned that the 19-year-old woman was beaten up by Zamora, reports show.

"Further investigation determined that the couple began to argue at which time Zamora pushed the victim into a wall. The victim was then headbutted by Zamora which caused her to fall to the ground," Joliet police announced.
As the violence escalated, Zamora pinned the woman to the ground and got on top of her, police reports show.

"While on top of the victim, Zamora choked her to the point of nearly losing consciousness," police announced. "The victim was able to free herself at which time she locked herself in the bathroom and called 911. Officers arrived and placed Zamora into custody without incident."
A Joliet Fire Department ambulance arrived at the house on Stonybrook Court and paramedics treated the young woman for her injuries that she suffered during the attack, police said.
As for Zamora, he resides in the 16300 block of South Lexington Drive in the village of Plainfield, jail records state.
