Gunman Tries Robbing Wendy's On Larkin Avenue

JOLIET, IL— A man standing at the drive-thru window of the Wendy's fast-food restaurant at 110 Larkin Avenue displayed a gun in hopes of robbing the fast-food restaurant late Friday morning, Joliet police said.

Joliet police officers rolled up the robbery call at 11:32 a.m.

Joliet police say a man in his early 20s ordered a children's meal from the drive-thru and then he walked up to the drive-thru window.

Instead of paying for the meal, the man lifted up his shirt, revealing a gun in his waistband, according to police.

When the man demanded cash, the employee retreated inside the restaurant, prompting the robber to eventually run away, according to police.

"It is unknown if the suspect stole any money," Joliet police said.

Joliet police did not have a good description of the suspect as of late Friday afternoon.
