Gunshots Nearby, Joliet's Students Remain Safe: Officials
Joliet police responded to the east side of the city for a shooting on Youngs Avenue.

JOLIET ? The Joliet Police Department responded to a shooting incident Tuesday afternoon on Youngs Avenue near Benton Street. Joliet police believe there were no gunshot victims, as no victims were found at the scene after a report of shots fired around 2:30 p.m.
Officers have taken multiple into custody for questioning, the police informed Patch.
Because of the shooting, Joliet Township High School District 204 issued a statement around 3 p.m. advising everyone that Joliet Central and Pathways are now on secure protocol. All the students and staff are safe, the school district informed its Facebook followers.

"No one will be entering or exiting the building at this time. We will let you know when the secure protocol is lifted. This will delay dismissal."
