Holidays to Affect Joliet Garbage Collection Schedule

Pickup will be pushed back one day Wednesday through Friday of this week and next, officials said.

If you're wondering how the Christmas and New Year's holidays are going to affect your garbage pickup, here's the answer from the city of Joliet:

"All garbage and recycling pick-up will be one day late, Wednesday through Friday, the weeks of December 23, 2013, and December 30, 2013, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holiday. Residents with Monday and Tuesday service will not be interrupted (December 23, 24, and December 30 and 31, 2013). The normal collection schedule will resume the week of January 6, 2014."

Also, don't forget that the city will pick up real Christmas trees after the holidays through Jan. 31. Just leave them at your normal pick-up location (curb or alley) on your regular trash day.

And on a somewhat related note, the holidays will also affect downtown parking and city hall hours.

Joliet City Hall will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. There will be no cost on either day to use downtown parking lots and parking meters.
