Joliet Home Sales up by 40% in September over Last Year

The median sales prices of Joliet homes sold in September 2013 rose just 4.6 percent from September 2012.

The 114 single, detached homes sold in Joliet in September 2013 represented a 40 percent increase over September 2012, when 81 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

However, sales prices in Joliet were still very low, increasing from a median $110,000 a year ago to $115,000 this year, numbers show. 

In the southwest suburbs listed, Lemont experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year, with Channahon and Romeoville also seeing big jumps. Romeoville also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 40.4 percent.

Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent
