I-55 Shooting At Black Road: Joliet Man, 26, Charged

Illinois State Police have arrested Bryson Carter of Iowa Avenue on two felony charges in connection last weekend's shooting along I-55.

JOLIET, IL —A 26-year-old Joliet resident, Bryson Carter, was booked into the Will County Jail late Wednesday night in connection with Sunday's early morning shooting along Interstate 55 near Black Road that left a Minooka motorist hospitalized.

The victim, a 37-year-old Minooka man, suffered gunshot wounds to his left arm and back, the criminal complaint states.

On Thursday, the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow charged Carter with aggravated battery involving a gun, a Class X felony, and aggravated discharge of a gun, a Class 1 felony. On Thursday, Carter's bail was set at $500,000.

Carter, "discharged a firearm in the direction of a vehicle he knows or reasonably should know to be occupied by a person, being a vehicle being operated by (the victim)," the complaint states.

On Dec. 13, Illinois State Police told Joliet Patch that the Minooka victim's gunshot wounds were not considered life-threatening. The shooting occurred around 2:40 a.m. along the southbound stretch of I-55 between Joliet and Shorewood.
