I-80 Westbound Shut Down, Pedestrian Dies After Crash

JOLIET ? The Illinois State Police said that no traffic is being allowed to enter Interstate 80 westbound between Joliet and Minooka as the result of Friday morning's fatality. A person who was killed after standing outside of her vehicle.

The fatality happened at Interstate 80 westbound, west of Interstate 55, near Shorewood.

At 7:02 a.m., ISP Troop 3 units were called to a multi-vehicle fatal crash. A pedestrian was fatally struck while standing outside of her vehicle. All westbound lanes are closed, and traffic is being diverted onto I-55 northbound. The crash is still in its infancy and no further information is available at this time, Illinois State Police Trooper Rodger Goines notified Patch.
