Ice Scraper Used As Weapon, Reckless Driver Has Child, 4, In Car: JPD

It was learned that her 4-year-old daughter was in the vehicle during the incident, Joliet police revealed.

JOLIET ? Joliet police say they arrested a 26-year-old citizen last weekend in connection with allegations of using an ice scraper to damage another person's vehicle during a fight. In total, Nutiya Thompson was arrested on a wide array of criminal charges including reckless driving, endangering the life or health of a child, battery and criminal damage to property.

None of the crimes was detainable at the Will County Jail, so Thompson received her notice to appear in court following her arrest.

On February 8, at 4:13 p.m., the officers responded to the 500 block of Water Street for a fight. Upon arrival, they found Thompson yelling at others while holding an ice scraper.

Officers deescalated the situation and learned Thompson had arrived by vehicle and got into a disturbance with a family member.

She allegedly struck a pregnant female who tried to intervene and damaged a vehicle?s window with the ice scraper. Thompson also reportedly drove her vehicle recklessly, possibly trying to hit others, though no one was struck, English noted.

It was learned that Thompson's 4-year-old daughter was in the vehicle during the incident. Thompson was taken into custody without incident and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
