Jackson Bridge Work Finished Early, Span Reopened
The state had announced maintenance work would keep the bridge closed through Friday, but it was back in service Tuesday afternoon.

Cold temps must have sped up the state's maintenance work on the Jackson Street Bridge because what was to have been a week-long closure ended in less than two days.
The span over the Des Plaines River was reopened to traffic Tuesday afternoon by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The closure began Monday, and work was expected to be completed by Friday, according to the initial announcement made last week. However, a subsequent release from the city of Joliet indicates the work is now finished.
