Jackson Street Bridge to Close for a Week for Maintenance

The closure starts Monday, and the span into and out of downtown Joliet should reopen on Jan. 24.

The Jackson Street Bridge will be closed for five days, starting Monday, to allow the Illinois Department of Transportation to do maintenance work.

It is to reopen Jan. 24, according to a news release from the city of Joliet.

Detours for traffic in both directions will be posted. Eastbound traffic will follow a detour route along Broadway Street, Ruby Street, Chicago Street and Ottawa Street. Westbound traffic will use Scott Street, Ruby Street and Broadway Street.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternate route and to use caution when driving in the area.
