Jerrie's Dogs Adds Sloppy Joes, Ice Cream Machine Next
Essington Road restaurant owner Jeff Reid decided to build a business in his mother's honor. Jerrie's Dogs is now in its fifth full year.

JOLIET, IL — Jerrie's Dogs and More is in its fifth year of business and the owner of the Joliet takeout restaurant at 1003 Essington Road continues to make changes to his menu. In recent months, Jerrie's added a Sloppy Joes daily special for $5.99.
You get two Sloppy Joes sandwiches and a bag of chips.
Owner Jeff Reid told Joliet Patch during a recent interview that the response from customers has been terrific. After all, the overwhelming majority of Joliet area restaurants are not offering Sloppy Joes on their regular menu.

"It's an old school Manwich," Reid said.
In addition to the Sloppy Joes, Reid said he's introduced smash burgers to his menu as well as chicken wings, boneless and traditional.

"These are fresh packed burgers," Reid said. "We pack them. I call them an old greasy bar burger."
This spring, Jerrie's will be unveiling an ice cream-making machine.
Reid told Patch he has ordered the ice cream machine and should have it ready for use around April.
"We'll start doing cones and shakes probably in a month," Reid said. "With Sonny's Delite gone, there's no ice cream shop except the Dairy Queen."
Actually, Cemeno's Pizza opened a small ice cream parlor last summer inside their popular Essington Road restaurant.
On Tuesday, Cemeno's employees told Patch that the ice cream parlor remains open just like last year.
Jerrie's is open from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. There are also a half dozen stools in the restaurant for people who want to eat inside.
Jerrie's is in the same business plaza as Hamburgerseria. Reid also owns the Double J Sports Bar next door to his restaurant. Customers can order online and Jerrie's does curbside pickup.
