Jessie McGee

Born June 3 19, 1935, in Pauling, Miss., to Columbus Sr. and Annie McGee.

Preceded in death by both of his parents; brothers Robert “RJ” (Annie) McGee, Curtis McGee, Ornie “OC” McGee and Columbus McGee Jr.; and sisters Loree McGee Boyd and Christine McGee.

Jessie was formally educated in Paulding, Miss., at Spring Hill Elementary and Leona School. He was the fourth oldest of 12 children.

Jessie retired from Caterpillar Inc. in Joliet, Ill., in 2001, and also worked at Johns Mansville. Jessie loved to cook for family on Sundays, play cards, and to hunt and fish. He was a very caring, hard-working and loving person.

On Thursday afternoon, December 5, 2013, Jessie closed his eyes and departed this earthly life to go home to be with our Heavenly Father.

He leaves to cherish his memories, five sons, Jeffrey (Jean) McGee, Jessie L McGee, Jimmy McGee, Troy McGee and Michael Robinson; three daughters, Judith (Charles) McElrath, Timika (Dotson) Singleton and a daughter he was hoping to find, Michelle (Raymond) Jackson; two brothers, Willie B. McGee of Paulding, MS, and William “WD” (Ruthie) McGee of Louin, MS; three sisters, Rosella Harris and Marjorie McGee, both of Joliet, IL, and Louella (William) Trotter of Laurel, MS; two special cousins, Geraldine Hamilton of Joliet, IL, and Lewis McDonald Jr. of Merriville, IN; and numerous stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home. Service at 7:00 PM, with Pastor R.H. Wilder Sr. officiating. Interment Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 10:00AM at Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
