Joliet Area Community Hospice Set To Undergo Renovations
The campaign, "Remembering from the Heart" will renovate and improve the Hospice Home, and the groundbreaking ceremony is set for April 24.
JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Area Community Hospice (JACH) is renovating and improving its Hospice Home through a capital campaign entitled “Remembering from the Heart.” The groundbreaking ceremony is set to take place Wednesday, April 24, at 4:30 p.m. on the JACH’s campus at 250 Water Stone Circle in Joliet.
The JACH first opened its doors in 1982 and their mission has remained the same — “Real People. Real Care. Your Family.” In addition to being one of the only non-profit community-based, Medicare-certified hospices serving several counties across Illinois, the organization also went on to build the first free-standing Hospice Home in the state in 2004. After serving thousands of patients over the year and more than 2,000 last year alone, the in-patient unit is now renovating and enhancing the structure and experience for patients and families.
“Remembering from the Heart” is a $3.5 million campaign that will include a twelve-room addition to the Hospice Home. Additionally, the improvements will increase the in-patient unit size to 20 beds in conjunction with state legislation that was passed in 2018. The increase in in-patient units will improve the quality of care for even more patients. The existing patient rooms will now contain a refrigerator, new furniture and a sink. The nursing staff will also be moved much closer to patient rooms.

The campaign will not only improve the quality of care and service for the patients, but it will add a level of comfort and support for the patient’s families. The addition of a multi-family kitchen and dining area as well as a larger, commercialized kitchen for preparing meals will give the families the sense of having a home away from home as they care for their loved ones.
The community is invited to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for this significant campaign. Since “Remembering from the Heart” is considered a capital campaign, gifts and donations at all levels are appreciated. Those interested in attending the ceremony or giving to the campaign can visit the JACH website for more information.
