Joliet Attorney Announces Bid for Will County Judge Opening

Daniel Kennedy has practiced law for 27 years, representing such clients as the Housing Authority of Joliet and Forest Preserve District of Will County.

Daniel Kennedy submitted this news release about his decision to run as a Democrat for the Will County judgeship opening in the 2nd subcircuit, which includes Joliet and parts of Plainfield and Troy townships.

The other announced Democratic candidates are Stewart Ferreira, Dawn Underhill, Jim Murphy, Tina Filipiak and Moria Dunn.

Longtime Joliet attorney Daniel Kennedy has announced he is a candidate for Judge, running in the March 18,, 2014, primary election. Kennedy is running as a Democrat for an available position in Will County’s 2nd Judicial Subcircuit.

“When this vacancy became open, a number of colleagues approached me about the possibility of running,” Kennedy said. “Their support led me to think very seriously about the election and to ultimately come to the decision to seek this judgeship.”

Kennedy has practiced law in Joliet for the past 27 years, taking up the family profession that originated with his grandfather. He has spent the last 24 years as a part-time public defender and has also represented the numerous clients in his private practice, including the Housing Authority of Joliet and Forest Preserve District of Will County.

Voters who live within the 2nd Subcircuit—which covers Joliet, Troy and part of Plainfield Townships will be able to participate in the election of this position.

“What I want voters to know is two-fold – that I am committed to upholding the principle of justice for all in Will County, and that I have the experience and knowledge necessary to fulfill the duties of this position.”
