Joliet Convicted Felon With Loaded Gun Beats Up Woman: Cops

JOLIET, IL — A 29-year-old convicted felon from Joliet who had a loaded gun in his possession was arrested Sunday night after Joliet police say he beat up a woman he knew, punching her in the face.

Now, Christopher Crosby is in the custody of the Will County Jail and his bail was set at $150,000. Joliet police arrested Crosby on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault, domestic battery and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Joliet police were sent to the domestic violence call around 7:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of Asbury Circle on Sunday. Police learned that a woman was beaten by a man she knew, Crosby, police reports show.

"Further investigation showed that Crosby arrived at the residence at which time he pushed the female and punched her in the face with a closed fist, causing injury to the victim," police said.

According to police, Crosby had a gun, and he threatened to harm a man who was at the residence.

Crosby was handcuffed and delivered to the Will County Jail without any problems, Joliet police reports state.

"Officers recovered a loaded firearm upon search of Crosby. The female victim of Crosby’s attack refused medical assistance," Joliet police said.

Crosby lives in the 500 block of South Joliet Street. He remained in detention on Tuesday unable to make bail.
