Joliet Man, 21, Chokes Woman Unconscious: Police
The domestic violence victim went to Joliet's police station to tell officers what Isaiah Martin did to her, police say.

JOLIET, IL — Bail was set at $10,000 Friday for a 21-year-old Joliet man who Joliet police say threatened to kill a woman he knew and choked her into brief unconsciousness. The victim got away from her attacker and made it to the Joliet police station where she told officers what happened, police say.
On Thursday night, officers tracked down Isaiah Martin and put him in handcuffs. Martin was charged with aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery.
The victim spoke with Joliet police around 5:15 p.m. Thursday, telling them she was a domestic violence victim at a residence in the 6900 block of Monmouth Drive.

"Further investigation showed that while Martin and the victim sat in a vehicle at the residence, Martin became angry and began to choke the victim, causing her to lose consciousness for a short time," Joliet police reports show.
After the woman regained consciousness, Martin slapped her and put her in a headlock while threatening to kill her, police said. The woman escaped from Martin's car, police said.

Joliet police found Martin at the house on Monmouth Drive address and arrested him. Martin was booked into the Will County Jail around 8:45 p.m., records indicate.
Martin was also in the Will County Jail in 2019 and 2017, jail logs show.
