Joliet Man, 73, Threatens To Harm African-American Employee: Cops

The incident happened at the Joshua Arms assisted living residences along Joliet's Rowell Avenue.

JOLIET, IL — A 73-year-old Joliet man is no longer in custody after being arrested late last week in connection with allegations he threatened and made racist insults toward an African-American woman.

Police said the incident happened around 5:45 p.m., April 6, at the Joshua Arms Senior Residences, 1315 Rowell Ave.

Two days later, around 2:45 p.m., April 8, Joliet police arrested John Beacham at Joshua Arms on charges of disorderly conduct.

"Officers determined that on April 6, 2021 ... Beacham threatened to physically harm a female adult African American Joshua Arms employee and made numerous racially charged insults towards her," Joliet police said. "Officers made contact with Beacham at his apartment and placed him into custody without incident."

Beacham is no longer in custody after being released on an I-bond, police reports indicate.
