Joliet Man Attacks Senior Citizen In His Basement: Police

JOLIET, IL — A 37-year-old Joliet man is now incarcerated inside the Will County Jail on South Chicago Street after Joliet police say he attacked a senior citizen early Friday morning. Dustin Nette's arrest happened in the 2800 block of Douglas Street.

Nette has been charged with aggravated battery to a senior citizen, domestic battery and criminal damage to property.

Joliet police say officers were sent to the domestic violence call at the house on Douglas Street around 12:35 a.m. A 65-year-old man had been beaten by Nette, police reports show.

"Nette had been drinking and began yelling and throwing things around the basement. The victim came to the basement at which time Nette wrestled him the ground and began striking the victim in the face multiple times, causing injury to the victim’s face, arms and hands," Joliet police reports show.

Officers found Nette in the basement and put him in handcuffs and drove him to the police station for his booking photo. An ambulance from the Joliet Fire Department responded to the Douglas Street house, but the injured senior citizen did not require hospitalization, police said.

Nette, who lives at the same house on Douglas Street, was booked into the Will County Jail at 2:03 a.m. where he was given a new mugshot.

One of the Will County judges on Friday set Nette's bail at $5,000, jail logs indicate. So far, he has not come up with the necessary 10 percent, $500, to regain his freedom.
