Joliet Man Flees Police, Runs From Car On Gardner: Cops

JOLIET, IL — A 32-year-old Joliet man remains in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say James Miles led officers on a chase Saturday night, after refusing to pull over his car near the intersection of Cass and Collins Street.

Several blocks later, Miles tried to make a run for it, but he wasn't successful, according to police reports. Miles was charged with aggravated fleeing/eluding a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer, plus multiple traffic violations.

He also had an outstanding Illinois Department of Corrections parole violation arrest warrant.

According to police, Miles led officers on a pursuit around 8:35 p.m. Saturday after officers tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.

"The fleeing vehicle was pursued to the 1100 block of Gardner Street at which time Miles stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were able to catch up to Miles and he was placed into custody without incident," Joliet police said.

Police believe that Miles chose to flee because the Illinois Department of Corrections had an active arrest warrant for a parole violation involving Miles, who lives in the 1000 block of Nowell Avenue.

The 32-year-old Joliet man remains incarcerated on Tuesday morning unable to post 10 percent of his $20,000 bail, jail records show.
