Joliet Motorcyclist, 57, Dies In South Chicago Street Crash
Joliet police closed down Route 53, which is South Chicago Street, shortly before midnight to investigate the motorcycle crash.

JOLIET, IL — The Will County Coroner's Office has identified the 57-year-old Joliet motorcyclist rider who died in a crash on Joliet's southeast side as Calvin J. Thompson. The collision happened around 10:30 p.m. at South Chicago Street and Doris Avenue, according to Joliet police.
Joliet Fire Department paramedics from Station 3 found the 57-year-old man dead in the roadway, according to Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said. The driver of the other vehicle, a 69-year-old man from Watseka, had no injuries and refused care at the scene, authorities said.

"A preliminary investigation of the crash indicates that a motorcycle driven by a 57-year-old male was northbound on Route 53 approaching Doris in the inside lane at which time the motorcycle struck a sport utility vehicle driven by a 69-year-old male what was turning left from southbound Route 53 to eastbound Doris Avenue. The 57-year-old male driver was ejected from his motorcycle and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver was uninjured in the crash. This crash is currently under investigation by the Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit."
Unrelated, Joliet Patch reported that a 25-year-old Joliet motorcycle rider was killed on Wednesday morning along the Interstate 80 westbound stretch in Troy Township.
