Joliet Police Team Up With Ring's 'Neighbors' App
The app will help make the City of Joliet safer by connecting residents and the police department via real-time safety and crime alerts.

This week, the Joliet Police Department announced that they have joined the free Neighbors app by Ring in an effort to keep neighborhoods safe and to reduce crime. With Neighbors, City of Joliet residents will receive real-time safety information and crime alerts.
“The Joliet Police Department is excited to partner with the Neighbors App by Ring,” said Chief Al Roechner. “This partnership will allow our officers to work closely with the community with the combined goal of making our community safer. Community engagement and the sharing of information is essential to keeping the citizens of Joliet safe. We look forward to connecting with the community through the Neighbors App to help reduce and prevent crime within the City of Joliet.”
The Neighbors app is available for free on iOS and Android. Residents can follow these steps to set up the app:

Once the app is set up, users can begin receiving real-time alerts concerning crime and safety from Joliet law enforcement, their neighbors as well as the Ring team. Local crime and safety posts will also be available through a live feed or an interactive map on the Neighbors app. Texts, images and videos taken from any device, including the Ring home security device, can also be shared on the app.
Jamie Siminoff, Chief Inventor and Founder of Ring said: “We’re excited to have the Joliet Police Department join Neighbors to keep their community up-to-date on local crime and safety information. Over the past few years we have learned that, when neighbors, the Ring team and law enforcement all work together, we can create safer communities."
Ring, an Amazon company, aims to cut down on crime and create a “Ring of Security” for residents and their homes. In May 2018, Ring launched “Neighbors” as a standalone app for smartphone users. Since that time, police departments across the country have partnered with the company to aid in keeping their neighborhoods safe. By working together through the use of the app, the Joliet Police Department and Joliet residents can do the same.
