Joliet Refuse Collection And Closures For The Week of December 31

Waste Management is also picking up live Christmas trees following the holidays and through January 31st.

During the week of December 31st, garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day due to the New Year’s Day holiday. Residents with Tuesday through Friday pick-up will be affected while residents with pick-up on Monday, December 31st will not be impacted.

The regular schedule will resume on January 7th. Yard waste pick-up is still suspended until the Spring.

In addition to the change in refuse collection, City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, New Year’s Day. Downtown parking decks will be free of charge, and parking meters will not be enforced on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Following the holidays and through January 31st, Waste Management will also pick up live Christmas trees. Residents must adhere to the following guidelines:

· If under five feet in length, set out the tree in one piece.

· If longer than five feet, cut the tree in half.

· Place the tree at your normal pick-up spot on your regularly scheduled pick-up day.
