Joliet Stabbing Leads To Reedwood Drive Man's Arrest
Joliet resident Benjamin Altiery, 38, remains in the Will County Jail unable to post his $250,000 bail, jail records show.

JOLIET, IL — A 38-year-old Joliet man remains in the Will County Jail after prosecutors say he stabbed a man with a pocket knife multiple times last week inside the defendant's house on Reedwood Drive.
Bail is set at $250,000 for Benjamin Altiery. He has been charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, two counts of domestic battery and two counts of criminal damage to property.
The criminal complaint states that Altiery stabbed a family or household member about the body on Jan. 11, causing great bodily harm to the victim. One of the domestic battery charges indicates that Altiery struck his victim about the body.

Altiery also damaged the tires on a black GMC truck belonging to the victim, and he damaged to the tires on a blue Saturn belonging to a woman, according to the complaint.
According to Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English, officers rolled up to Altiery's house in the unit block of Reedwood Drive around 1 a.m. on Jan. 11 for a stabbing call.

"Officers determined that a male victim had been stabbed by Altiery ... Altiery charged at the victim with a pocketknife and stabbed him in the arm," Joliet police said.
At that point, a struggle occurred and Altiery stabbed the victim two additional times," police said.
The victim was also kicked several times in his face, Joliet police said.
The victim was taken by ambulance to AMITA St Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and Altiery ran from his house before Joliet squad cars arrived, reports reflect.
Jail records listed the Romeoville Police Department as being responsible for making Altiery's arrest on Jan. 14, which is three days after the stabbing occurred.
