Joliet Teen Faces Reckless Driving, Disorderly Conduct Charges

JOLIET, IL — A 19-year-old Joliet man was arrested early Tuesday morning by Joliet police on charges of reckless driving and disorderly conduct in connection with allegations that he was chasing after an ex-girlfriend's car and threatening to fight her male passenger.

The incident that led to the arrest of Dtaviaye Eskridge was reported to police around 2:05 a.m. Officers went to the 1400 block of West Acres Road for a disturbance.

"Officers determined that Eskridge had been following an adult female and male as they drove, yelling at them and challenging them to fight," Joliet police announced. "Further investigation determined that Eskridge was a former boyfriend of the female victim."

While the woman and her passenger were driving westbound near Black and Frontage Roads, "Eskridge pulled up beside them and began yelling at the male victim and challenging him to a fight," Joliet police said. "Eskridge continued to follow them to Black Road and Essington Road at which time he exited his vehicle."

Police said the two victims managed to drive past Eskridge and that after the young woman dropped off her male passenger, Eskridge began to follow her along eastbound Theodore Street, and he was driving recklessly near her car.

At that point, the victim called 911 and drove to her house and "Eskridge continued to follow her. Eskridge fled the scene prior to arrival by officers," reports show.

Joliet officers found Eskridge near Midland Avenue and Taylor Street where he was released and later released on an I-bond.
