Joliet Woman Attacks 2 Police Officers: Cops
Joliet police say that the 50-year-old Joliet woman was experiencing a psychotic event and needed to be hospitalized for an evaluation.

JOLIET, IL — A 50-year-old Joliet woman remains in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say she kicked an officer while being handcuffed and spit in the face of a second officer while she was inside a Joliet Fire Department ambulance awaiting transport.
Cassandra Huffman is now in the Will County Jail where she's charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and one count of obstructing a peace officer.
The incident that led to Huffman's arrest happened shortly before 8 p.m. Friday in the 3000 block of Heritage Drive, about a block away from the apartment unit where Huffman lives, according to jail logs. Heritage Drive is near the intersection of West Jefferson Street and Essington Road.

"Officers determined that Huffman was experiencing a psychotic event and needed to be transported to the hospital for evaluation," Joliet police reports show. "Huffman was belligerent and yelling at officers."
When Huffman charged at one of the officers, she was put into handcuffs and arrested, reports show. That's when Huffman became more combative, according to Joliet police.

"Huffman kicked an officer and then spit in the face of another officer while in the ambulance," reports show.
A Joliet Fire Department ambulance initially brought Huffman to the AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center for an evaluation. After doctors determined she was fine, Huffman taken to the Will County Jail and booked into custody on felony charges, police reports reflect.
