A Joliet woman posing as a prostitute robbed a Bolingbrook man at gunpoint Sunday night, police said.
Chelsea S. Dean, 18, and her accomplice, Jesus M. Simms, 21, then created a fictitious account for the police in order to cover their crime, Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa said.
Police pieced the story together after receiving a call at about 10:45 p.m. from Dean, who claimed her former boyfriend came into Simms' Bolingbrook house, choked her and threatened to kill her, implying he had a gun in his pocket, Rompa said.
Dean, of 307 Stryker Ave., provided the man's name to police and had Simms, of the 1317 Parkside Drive, Bolingbrook, corroborate her story, Rompa said.
When police tracked down the "ex-boyfriend," however, he told a different tale, Rompa said.
According to the victim, he came to the house in order to have paid sex with Dean, he said.
"It was determined the subject arranged to meet with Dean through an advertisement," Rompa said. "She guided him to the Parkside address via phone contact.
"Once inside, Simms put a gun to his head, made him lay down, went through his pockets and removed the $85 they had agreed on for the encounter. They then made him leave the residence. Simms and Dean called police and related a fictitious domestic battery incident."
Police returned to Simms' house, and asked the pair to come to the Bolingbrook Police Department for more questioning. They agreed, and investigators were able to verify the victim's version of the story, Rompa said.
Dean was charged with armed robbery, prostitution and filing a false police report. Simms was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and filing a false police report.
Both are being held in the Will County jail pending a bond hearing.
