Joliet Woman Stabs TVs, Couch: Police

JOLIET ? A 35-year-old Joliet woman spent her Thanksgiving in the Will County Jail after police say she used a knife to stab two TV sets and a couch, according to Joliet police arrest reports.

Lucy Navarrete now finds herself facing charges of domestic battery, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said at 11:14 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a house in the 0-50 block of North Broadway Street for a disturbance. Police say they learned that Navarrete grew angry and called a man, telling him she was coming to his home.

Once Navarrete arrived, police say the victim denied her entry into the home, at which time police believe Navarrete shattered a back window with a brick. According to the police report, Navarrete then entered the home through the broken window, sustaining cuts to her hands from the broken glass.

English said Navarrete then approached the male victim, punched him in the face numerous times and scratched his neck. After the attack, police say Navarrete retrieved a knife from the kitchen and stabbed two televisions and a couch, causing extensive damage, before slapping the phone out of the victim?s hand as he tried to call 911.

Police who arrived placed Navarette into custody, and she refused medical attention, English said.

Navarette comes from the east side, the 600 block of Mohawk Street, her jail logs show.
