JOLIET, IL — An intersection on Joliet's east side that had a four-way stop sign for years is about to change in a dramatic way. Starting May 17, the intersection of Briggs Street and Mills Road will have a traffic light.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has posted electronic message boards along Mills Road and Briggs Street to inform oncoming motorists that the change is only one week away.

Nowadays, semi-trucks traveling along the Interstate 80 corridor utilize Joliet's Briggs Street exit to get to the city's logistics centers and warehouses near Laraway Road and the Route 53 corridor.
