JOLIET, IL — On Wednesday morning, the family of Joliet teenager Lizzie Reyes announced on Facebook that a kidney donor has been found. The family had been working with Lurie Children's Hospital in hopes of finding a kidney for Lizzie.

"We got a call!! We got the call we have been waiting for!! Headed to Chicago," the family of Lizzie Reyes revealed on social media. "A deceased donor was compatible with Lizzie. Her surgeon feels it’s a perfect fit. All we know is it is a young viable donor, which means while we are celebrating another family is mourning. So we ask for prayers for this family."

Joliet Patch profiled Lizzie in a March article that you can read here.
