Landau Ave. House Shot Up Again, Joliet Police Arrest 2
Over the past few days, several bullets were pumped into a house on Joliet's east side. Police say they caught the two culprits.

JOLIET, IL — While most of Joliet was sleeping, 19-year-old Francisco Medina and 21-year-old Sebastian Gates were arrested in connection with an east-side neighborhood shooting in the 500 block of Landau Avenue. Several bullets were fired into a house early Tuesday morning and over the weekend, according to Joliet police.
Now, Medina is behind bars at the Will County Jail charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a convicted felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a gun with no FOID, unlawful possession of ammunition and obstructing a police officer.
In connection with Saturday's shooting in the same block, Joliet police say Gates was charged with aggravated discharge of a gun, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a gun by a street gang member, possession of a gun with no FOID and unlawful possession of unlawful.

As Joliet squad cars rolled up to Tuesday's shooting scene around 1:15 a.m., officers recognized Gates and Medina on the street, and the pair matched the shooting suspect descriptions, police reports note.
Medina tried to outrun the police, but officers tracked him down, put him in handcuffs and took him to the Will County Jail without any further problems, reports state.

"No contraband was found upon search of Medina; however, officers recovered a loaded firearm on the opposite side of a fence that was adjacent to where Medina was placed into custody," Joliet police said.
Gates was asked about his role in Saturday's 7 a.m. shooting in the same 500 block of Landau Avenue. In the Jan. 23 crime, a house was hit with several bullets, but nobody was injured.
"It was determined that Gates matched a description from the January 23rd shooting and was transported to the Joliet Police Department. Gates was interviewed and implicated himself in the shooting," Joliet police announced Wednesday morning.

Following his Jan. 6 arrest, Gates was let out of the Will County Jail on Jan. 7 after posting 10 percent of his $35,000 bail. He lives in the 400 block of Garnsey Avenue.
On Tuesday, for his new charges, bail was set by a Will County judge at $250,000.
Will County Jail logs show that Medina has lived in Bolingbrook. His bail was set at $100,000 on Tuesday.
