Loaded Gun Recovered During Joliet Traffic Stop: Cops

Joliet police officers arrested the 28-year-old on Monday night near the intersection of East Benton and Michigan.

JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old Chicago man who was driving around Joliet with open alcohol and marijuana inside his car was arrested Monday night after Joliet police say they recovered a loaded gun inside the car of Johnny Grubbs.

Following the traffic stop at East Benton and Michigan Streets, Joliet police arrested Johnny Grubbs on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition, not having a Firearm Owner's Identification and multiple traffic citations, police said.

The traffic stop happened around 9:30 p.m.

"While speaking to Grubbs, officers observed cannabis and an open alcohol container in plain view inside of the vehicle. Upon search of the vehicle, Officers recovered a loaded handgun and ammunition," Joliet police said.

Grubbs was taken into custody and booked into the Will County Jail without any problems, police said.
