Man Broke Down Ex's Front Door, Attacked Woman: Police

Justin Ruch of Joliet has been charged with home invasion, unlawful restraint and domestic battery, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.

A Joliet man broke down the front door of his former girlfriend's house Friday night and struck the woman several times before fleeing, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office.

Justin Ruch, 33, of 1950 Elgin Ave., is being held in the Will County jail on $100,000 bond in connection with the assault, which took place shortly before 9:30 p.m. at a home in the 700 block of Fox Street in Joliet Township, sheriff's office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said.

Ruch allegedly broke through the front door in order to get to the victim, whom he's accused of striking several times, Hoffmeyer said. The woman freed herself and called police, and Ruch fled the scene, she said.

Sheriff's deputies located Ruch on Saturday, brought him in for questioning and arrested him on charges of home invasion, unlawful restraint and domestic battery.

According to Will County circuit clerk records, Ruch has been arrested three times previously on domestic battery charges and has been the subject of three orders of protection, the most recent of which was granted on Friday on behalf of Carrie Gibson.
