Man Broke Wife's Eye Bone during Beating, Police Say

Fidel Perez-Cervantes has been charged with aggravated domestic battery, Joliet police said.

A Joliet man who allegedly beat his wife so severely that he broke a bone in her face has been charged with aggravated domestic battery, Joliet police said.

Fidel Perez-Cervantes, 58, 201 Sherry, was arrested over the weekend on a warrant alleging he attacked his wife on Nov. 4 after she returned home from work two hours later than he expected, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

According the victim, Perez-Cervantes was waiting for her behind the front door and punched her in the face and head when she entered, Roechner said. When she fell to the floor, he allegedly kicked her head and shoulders, he said.

The woman sought treatment for her injuries, including a broken orbital bone in her face, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, Roechner said. She told doctors she fell down the stairs, he said.

She later reconsidered, and called police, he said. Based on information the victim provided, Perez-Cervantes was also arrested for another beating he allegedly administered to his wife on Sept. 28.

He faces two counts of aggravated domestic battery and two counts of aggravated battery for both incidents.

Perez-Cervantes was booked into the Will County jail on Nov. 23 and freed on $38,500 bond.
