Man Driving with Baby Tried to Force Car to Stop, Police Say

Joliet police said they don't know why Nicholas Presi tapped bumpers and tried to cut off another driver.

A man who tapped bumpers and attempted to force a car to stop as both drove down Plainfield Road -- all while his 1-year-old son was in the vehicle -- was arrested Thursday, according to the Joliet Police Department.

Capt. Tab Jensen said Nicholas N. Presi, 24, of 106 Jefferson St., Shorewood, was pulled over by officers at about 11:45 a.m. at Essington Road and Division Street and charged with disorderly conduct and endangering the life/health of a child.

Police do not know what triggered Presi's behavior. The two people in the car being followed by Presi called 911 when he allegedly began tapping their bumper and trying to cut them off as they drove on Plainfield Road near the Louis Joliet Mall, Jensen said.

No one was injured and no damage done to either vehicle, he said.

Presi was released on a recognizance bond and is to appear in court on Dec. 3.
