Man With Gun At CVS Pharmacy Gives Fake Name: Cops
Wednesday afternoon's arrest happened at the CVS Pharmacy in the 800 block of Plainfield Road.

JOLIET, IL — Employees at the CVS Pharmacy on Plainfield Road summoned Joliet police Wednesday afternoon after a young man suspected of theft showed the employees a gun in his waistband, police said. Officers later tracked down Jovani Ortega at a house on Broadway Street and the 21-year-old Joliet resident was taken to the Will County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct, obstructing a peace officer and two outstanding Will County arrest warrants, police said.
Joliet officers rolled up to the CVS Pharmacy in the 800 block of Plainfield Road for a report of a man with a gun.
"Officers determined that CVS staff approached Ortega in the parking lot about a possible theft at which time Ortega revealed an outline of a firearm in his waistband. Ortega then left the area in a vehicle," police reports show.

Joliet police learned that Ortega lived in the 600 block of North Broadway, so officers went to the house and "Ortega attempted to flee from the rear door, but was taken into custody without further incident," reports show.
Ortega had a BB gun that police confiscated, reports state.

"Ortega gave a fictitious name to officers upon his arrest, but later divulged his real identity," police announced. "Officers determined that Ortega had two active Will County arrest warrants, one warrant for domestic battery and another for traffic charges."
