Man Punched Both Grandparents during Fight, Police Say
The grandfather, whose face was bleeding and extremely swollen, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment, Joliet police said.

A Joliet man who punched both of his grandparents in the head during an argument was arrested Thursday on two counts of aggravated domestic battery, Joliet Police Cmdr. Al Roechner said.
The incident occurred at about 4:45 p.m. at the home that Sheldon E. Cherry, 29, shares with his grandparents at 721 Williamson St.
Cherry's grandfather told police that he was arguing with his grandson over an undisclosed topic when Cherry became violent and punched him in the head several times, Roechner said. When the grandmother tried to intervene, Cherry punched her in the head as well, he said.
The grandfather, whose face was bleeding and extremely swollen, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox for treatment and later released.
Cherry was taken into custody at the house, where he was also charged with domestic battery, but refused to speak with police. He's being held at the Will County jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.
According to jail and court records, Cherry was most recently arrested in 2009 for several financial crimes, including ID theft, fraud and continuing a financial crimes enterprise. Since 2001, he's also been arrested on more than a dozen charges, including aggravated battery, mob action, aggravated assault and criminal trespass.
