Man Wrapped Fingers Around Woman's Neck And Applied Pressure For 30 Seconds: Crest Hill PD
This marks the fourth time since March 2024 that Joshua Fase has been in the Will County Jail. His latest arrest was by Crest Hill Police.

JOLIET, IL ? The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has asked the county judges to keep 26-year-old Crest Hill resident Joshua Fase in the Will County Jail following his arrest on charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, two counts of domestic battery, aggravated assault of a police officer, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence and one count of domestic battery.
For now, Fase remains in the Will County Jail. The police booked him into custody on Wednesday morning.
According to the prosecution's petition to deny pretrial release, at 2:22 a.m. July 16, Officer Gorz of Crest Hill was on patrol near Theodore Street at Conklin Way when he saw a woman waving and yelling to get his attention. The woman already suffered significant injuries to her face as she held a wet, bloody rag, according to prosecutors. Her left eye was purple and swollen shut, and her nose and mouth were bloody. The officer saw dried blood on her clothes and red marks on her neck, according to the petition.

The woman told the officer she was living with Fase in the 1400 block of Pioneer Road and said they were drinking on July 13 when Fase became hostile and began to hit her in the face with a closed fist. She did not report that incident to police, prosecutors said. Then at around 1:30 a.m. July 16, she and Fase were drinking alcohol again in their apartment and when she told Fase to quit drinking, he became angry and hit her in the face with a closed fist, the authorities noted.
From there, Fase wrapped his fingers around her neck and applied pressure for 30 seconds, prosecutors outlined in their petition.

The woman lost consciousness, and she tried to grab and scratch Fase to get him to release her, she told the police.
When she tried to call 911, Fase took her phone and smashed it into pieces; when Fase stopped harming her, he later fell asleep and that's how she managed to escape, the prosecution told the judge.
Crest Hill police went to the apartment and saw fresh blood all over the floor of the apartment, and Fase told him them that nothing had happened. He was arrested and when the police took him to a squad car, Fase lowered his head toward Sgt. Locasto and headbutted him under his right eye, the court files allege. During the police car ride, Fase made suicidal statements, so he was taken to St. Joe's hospital, where he became uncooperative and fell asleep.
When Fase was secured back to a squad car, he spit in the direction of Officer Lewis but did his saliva did not make contact with the officer, according to prosecutors.
The judge was informed that Fase has the following convictions from recent years: obstructing justice in Livingston County from 2024, retail theft from 2023 in Will County, aggravated battery in a public place from 2022 in Will County, domestic battery from 2020 in Will County, retail shoplifting in 2020 from Will County, a 2018 criminal trespass to vehicles in Will County, two more 2018 shoplifting crimes in California and a 2017 violating an order of protection from Will County.
