Manley, Joliet Firefighters Join Forces in Food Drive

The nonperishable food donated through Nov. 24 will benefit Joliet's MorningStar Mission.

State Rep. Natalie Manley issued this news release Tuesday:

State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, is teaming up with Joliet firefighters to organize a Thanksgiving food drive for local families in need of a meal this holiday.

“Thanksgiving is a time for being with family, friends, and neighbors, while reflecting on all of our blessings,” said Manley. “We hope to help our neighbors who have fallen on tough times.”

All proceeds of the food drive will be donated to the MorningStar Mission of Joliet where they already have reservations to feed over 500 Joliet families. MorningStar Mission estimates it will serve over 1,300 residents on Thanksgiving alone.

“This food drive is exactly what the City of Joliet, its fire fighters, and families are all about: community,” said Tim Hunter, President of the Joliet Firefighters Local 44. “We couldn’t think of a better person to partner with other than Rep. Manley. We are just glad to be a part of this effort and continue supporting this community.”
