Mayor's Wedding Anniversary Party Postponed
Joliet Mayor Thomas Giarrante was forced to delay the celebration of couples married 50 or more years because he need to testify in Springfield on the party date.

Mayor Thomas Giarrante's annual Golden Wedding Anniversary party, scheduled for next week, will be postponed so that the mayor can attend a hearing in Springfield, his office announced Friday.
The annual event, which celebrates those couples who have reached their milestone 50th wedding anniversary or have been married longer, will be rescheduled for a future date. The tradition started two years ago when Giarrante and wife Rose celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Giarrante will be in Springfield to offer his testimony on a pending bill dealing with the former Joliet Youth Center and Joliet Correctional Center.
