Minooka Man Shot On I-55 Near Shorewood: State Police
Illinois State Police say the shooting occurred during the overnight hours of Sunday along I-55 near Black Road.

SHOREWOOD, IL — A 37-year-old Minooka man is hospitalized after a gunman pulled alongside his car along the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 near Black Road and shot him early Sunday morning, the Illinois State Police said. The non-fatal shooting happened around 2:40 a.m.
According to Illinois State Police, troopers responded to I-55 near Black Road for a shooting. The 37-year-old Minooka man told police that an "unknown vehicle pulled alongside of his vehicle at this location and began shooting. The victim vehicle, a blue 2007 Toyota, sustained multiple gun shots. The victim was transported to an area hospital with injuries. This is an open and ongoing investigation. No additional information is available at this time."
The injuries were reported as non-life-threatening, the Illinois State Police told Patch.

Shorewood police were among the first responders to the shooting incident, but the Illinois State Police is in charge of solving the crime. A Troy Township Fire District ambulance rushed the victim to the nearby AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, officials said.
