Moldy Joliet House To Be Declared Public Nuisance
Three problem properties are on Tuesday's Joliet City Council agenda for declaration as public nuisances.

JOLIET, IL - The Joliet City Council will be asked to declare three troubled properties around the city of Joliet as public nuisances when the council holds its first meeting of 2018 on Tuesday night. An ordinance on the meeting agenda states that the following three properties "are deteriorated, dangerous, structurally unsafe and in such a state of disrepair that they constitute a hazard to life and property..."
According to the ordinance up for vote, declaring the homes as public nuisances allows the city's legal department to pursue demolition of the structures, or in the alternative, obtain a legal injunction forcing the rehabilitation of the structures to come into compliance with the city of Joliet's safe housing regulations.
