Authors Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson teamed up with Troupe America, Inc. and its executive producer Curt Wollan to bring their 1997 best-selling book Growing Up Lutheran: What Does This Mean to the stage. Church Basement Ladies celebrates the women behind the scenes at a staple in almost every church, the basement kitchen.

The show revolves around four ladies working in the basement kitchen of a Minnesota church. Attendees are treated to an inside look into their lives as they deal with holiday dinners, funerals, weddings and more at the church. They work together to solve problems and keep things afloat while creating delicious recipes. The funny plot is infused with music, under the direction of Drew Jansen, and choreography by Wendy Short Hays.
