New Weight Restrictions For Joliet’s Jackson Street Bridge
The new weight restrictions were set in place this month.
JOLIET, IL — There are new weight restrictions for the Jackson Street Bridge over the Des Plaines River, effective immediately. According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), single vehicles are restricted to 23 tons and combination vehicles are restricted to 41 tons.
Signs will be placed in the area near the bridge and nearby intersections to inform motorists about the restrictions.
Currently, repair plans for the nearly 90-year-old bridge are said to be in progress, but there are no immediate project plans set in place.
