Bridge deck patching and pavement repairs are sets to take place on westbound Interstate 80 between Briggs Street and the Des Plaines River bridge in Joliet, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). The repairs are expected to begin at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2 and go through 5:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, weather permitting.

With the repairs will come lane closures. Only one lane through the work lane will be available on westbound I-80 and significant delays are expected. Motorists are urged to allow extra time for travel through the area.

Work will be done on the bridge decks over Chicago Street (Illinois 53/52), Gardner Road, Hickory Cree as well as Richards Street. The entrance ramp from Richards Street to westbound I-80 will be closed during the repairs. Due to the work, motorists are encouraged to use the Chicago Street entrance ramp to westbound I-80 if looking for an alternative route.
