Pedestrian Killed In Joliet Hit-And-Run Is Identified: Coroner
Joliet Police responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the intersection of Fourth Ave.and Chicago Street.

JOLIET ? Will County Coroner Laurie Summers issued a press release revealing that the Joliet walker who died crossing the street on Saturday night has been identified as Robert Redmond. It was a hit-and-run fatality, according to the Joliet Police Department.
By Sunday night, Joliet police spokesman Tizoc Landeros issued a follow-up press release noting that Joliet officers were able to identify the suspect vehicle. The Joliet Police received a call from the Will County Sheriff?s Police saying they found the suspect vehicle unoccupied.
Officers responded to this location and towed the vehicle.

At about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Joliet Police received a call of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian. The 62-year-old Joliet man was found lying on the sidewalk near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Chicago Street.
A Joliet Fire Department ambulance responded and rushed the victim, with critical injuries, to Ascension Saint Joseph Hospital, and that's where Redmond later died.

Witnesses stated that the victim crossed Chicago Street while walking eastbound. He was then struck by the silver sedan traveling northbound on Chicago Street.
Officers managed to recover video footage of the pedestrian fatality, and the video shows a silver sedan traveling north bound Chicago St. at a high rate of speed. It also shows the victim being struck by this vehicle. A search of the silver sedan with front end damage is being conducted.
