Coroner IDs Woman Killed On Jefferson Street
Joliet police cars have closed a section of West Jefferson Street while authorities investigate the death.

JOLIET, IL — The Will County Coroner's Office has identified the woman struck and killed by a car Thursday morning along West Jefferson Street as 55-year-old Joliet resident Maria Dinardo. She was pronounced dead at the Amita St. Joseph Medical Center emergency room at 7:13 a.m.
Dinardo was walking across the street at the intersection of Hammes Avenue and West Jefferson Street when she was hit by a car, authorities said.
The Joliet Police Department announced that Jefferson Street at Hammes Avenue was closed to westbound traffic because of a traffic crash investigation for several hours on Thursday.

The motorist involved in the crash stayed at the scene and spoke with police.
The Joliet Fire Department reported that the crash happened around 6:50 a.m. Ambulance crews from the Fire Station 6 found the woman in the roadway. She was without a pulse and not breathing as people in the area tried to perform CPR on her, the fire chief said.
