Plainfield Road Shut Down In Joliet After Pavement Cracks

At 5:20 p.m., Tuesday's heat index felt like 111 degrees, according to the Joliet Weather Center's Brian Delach.

JOLIET, IL ? Joliet Facebook Live's Bob Hernandez got to the scene of a major traffic hazard on Tuesday evening. With Joliet's heat index making it feel like 111 degrees at 5:20 p.m., a section of concrete along Plainfield Road near the University of St. Francis crumbled.

Several Joliet police officers got to the scene, and blocked the area so motorists could not pass through. Hernandez told Patch that several of his followers notified him about the cracks in Plainfield Road and that even a part of the curb broke.

The incident happened near Douglas and Nicholson Streets, he said.
