Joliet Racetracks Collecting Food, Clothing for Tornado Victims

Donations can be dropped off at the Chicagoland Speedway administrative office now through Nov. 25.

Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway in Joliet are conducting a food and clothing drive to benefit people affected by the tornadoes that tore through Washington, Diamond and Coal City on Sunday.

Non-perishable food items and/or gently worn clothing to the Chicagoland Speedway administrative building, 500 Speedway Blvd., between 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Nov. 25. 

A list of some of the items needed includes non-perishable food items, bottled water, baby formula, diapers, toiletries, flashlights, batteries, aspirin, matches, toilet paper and paper towels.

The donated items will be transported to American Red Cross designated drop-off areas in Coal City/Diamond and Washington on Nov. 26.

Anyone wishing to make a monetary contribution to the relief efforts can call the Central Illinois Red Cross at 309-677-7272. Joliet-based PeopleFirstBank has also set up an account to help tornado victims. Click here for more details.
